MSU Leadership Foundations
This badge is intended for graduate students at Midwestern State University. Students who complete the leader foundations programs (Graduate Student Leader Development) are eligible to receive this microcredential, should they complete all required elements. This asynchronous program is focused on discussion board engagement. This engagement will allow them to demonstrate competency to each of the learning objectives provided. Students will use the discussion boards to demonstrate their understanding of the content. Disucssion boards are moderated by the two faculty leading this program. Students will also compete knowledge checks at the end of each module, further demonstrating their understanding of the materials within the module.
At the end of this program, learners will be able to:
Distinguish between leading and managing and work to develop one’s leadership skills
Define emotional intelligence and understand its importance in communicating with team members
Identify one’s character traits and understand how they apply to leadership, especially in planning, initiating, managing, and completing projects
Develop communication skills for difficult conversations in leadership
Identify the importance of trust and accountability in leadership
Students will be assessed through discussion board posts, scenario completion, and knowledge checks.
Participants need to be currently enrolled in a graduate program at Midwestern State University in good standing. Participants must have a minimum gpa of 3.0 and all participants must submit a resume.

Earning Criteria
Required
Complete all of the online asynchronous course materials. Learner will complete discussion board posts (required before allowed to view other posts), complete scenario activities, complete videos and lectures, and successfully pass each module knowledge check with a minimum 80% score for all six modules.
Learners are also required to attend or view two live sessions throughout the program.
