Emerging Leaders

Emerging Leaders is a six-session program designed to provide a functional knowledge of effective leadership skills to team members with less than three years of TTUHSC supervisory experience.  The program focuses on developing leadership skills such as communication, conflict resolution, managing change and coaching through understanding and practical applications.   

This 6-session program provides functional knowledge of effective leadership to TTUHSC team members with less than three years supervisory experience. 

  • PROGRAM LENGTH: 6 months

  • PROGRAM SIZE: Limited to 20 team members

  • FREQUENCY: Twice per year

Learning objectives:

Six Dimensions of an Effective Team Leader: 

After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:

·        Identify six dimensions of an effective team leader

·        Determine areas for professional development to improve their effectiveness as a leader

·        Create an Action Plan for developing any identified areas needing strengthening

Six Types of Working Genius:

After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:

·        Identify the talents they possess

·        Recognize where the influence of their working geniuses is most beneficial to the team

·        Explain how their areas of working genius and working frustrations impact their leadership ability

Versatile Communication:

After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:

·        Identify the four social styles

·        Modify their own behavior to reduce relationship tension and communicate more easily and effectively with others

Resolving Conflict:

After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:

·        Identify the five styles of conflict resolution from the Thomas-Kilmann conflict model

·        Demonstrate effective problem-solving techniques

·        Appropriately apply the five styles based on the specific context and the desired outcomes in order to achieve a mutually beneficial solution that maintains positive relationships

Managing Change

After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:

·        Describe the relationship between leadership and change

·        Learn how to communicate effectively during change

·        Explore strategies to empower and engage employees during a time of transition

·        Discover how to solve common challenges that teams experience when facing change

Coaching

After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:

·        Identify different coaching strategies

·        Apply effective coaching strategies to inspire and guide others toward personal and professional growth, enhanced performance and overcoming challenges.
